Words, Wide Night

Words, Wide Night
Somewhere on the other side of this wide night
and the distance between us, I am thinking of you.
The room is turning slowly away from the moon.
This is pleasurable. Or shall I cross that out and say
it is sad? In one of the tenses I singing
an impossible song of desire that you cannot hear.
La lala la. See? I close my eyes and imagine the dark hills I would have to cross
to reach you. For I am in love with you
and this is what it is like or what it is like in words.

A Song For Beth

An empty frame, just me in the sea

Felt like a star, melting in your screens, dripping on your skin

Wounded by doubt, I'm still waiting

For you to walk on the water, to bring down the sky

Wipe the ghosts from the mirror, fill in  the blanks of my sighs

Wrap me with your halo, like a drowning child

Save me from the silence

Save me from the rain

Burn the colours, tear the dark

Wake my dreams, wake my nights,

Bleed my days, the weeks, the years

There must be something more than this life

There must be something more than  life

Wounded by doubt, I'm still waiting

For you to walk on the water, to bring down the sky

Wipe the ghosts from the mirror, fill in  the blanks of my sighs

Wrap me with your halo, like a drowning child

Wrap me with your fever, make the neon bleed real light, real life, something more than real

Something more than a dream

Something more
